How to Connect Apps in via Socket
Connecting apps in viaSocket allows you to automate tasks, move data between platforms, and build powerful workflows without writing code.
This guide will walk you through the complete process—from finding the app to authenticating and managing your connected accounts.
What Does “Connecting an App” Mean?
viaSocket integrates with hundreds of apps (CRM, email tools, payment gateways, spreadsheets, messaging platforms, etc.).
When you connect an app, you give via Socket permission to access that app’s data so you can:
Trigger workflows when events happen
Send or update data into the apps
Move information between different tools
Build automations without manual work
Steps to Connect Apps in via Socket
Go to the “Apps” Section
• Log in to your viaSocket workspace.
• Click on trigger and from the left menu, click on the app you want to build a connection.
• This page shows all the applications that viaSocket supports.Search for the App You Want to Connect
• Use the Search bar to find the app (e.g., Gmail, HubSpot, Stripe, Shopify).• Select the app to open its connection window.
Click “Connect Account”
Once you open the app:• You will see a button called Connection.
• Click on it to start the authentication process.
Authenticate the App
Depending on the type of app, the authentication steps may vary:
a)OAuth-Based Apps (e.g., Google, Slack, Shopify)
• You’ll be redirected to the app's login screen.• Log in and provide permissions.
• Once approved, you will return to viaSocket automatically.
b) API Key or Token-Based Apps
Some tools require an API Key, Secret Key, or Access Token.You will need to:
• Get the API key from your app’s account settings.
• Paste it into via Socket’s connection window.
• Save and verify.
Test the Connection
After authentication:• viaSocket tests the connection.
If successful, you’ll see your account listed under Connected Accounts.
If not, you may get prompts to recheck credentials or grant missing permissions.
