Schedule Tasks with Cron

A Cron Trigger runs a Workflow automatically at a defined time or interval. You can describe the schedule in plain language and set the timezone in which the Workflow should run.

  1. Open viaSocket and create a new Workflow.

  2. Click Add Trigger.

  3. Select Run automatically at defined intervals / Cron.

Step 2: Set the Schedule

After selecting Cron, configure when the Workflow should run.

  • Timezone — Select the timezone for this Workflow, such as Asia/Kolkata (+05:30).

Schedule prompt — Describe the schedule in plain language.
For example: Daily 2 pm except weekend and on the last day of every month.

  • Click Set Cron to apply the schedule.

  • Click Get Data to preview the Trigger output.

Note: The default timezone is set to your workspace timezone, but you can change it per workflow as needed.

#

Step 3: Add Actions

Once the schedule is configured, the Trigger card displays the scheduled time or interval.

  1. Click Add Step.

  2. Choose the Action or tool you want to run when the schedule is triggered.

You can add:

  • Built-in Tools — such as JS Code, API Call, Variable, Multiple Paths, Delay, and Call AI Agent.

  • Connected Apps — Use actions from apps connected to your viaSocket Workspace.

Advanced Configuration with Cron

With Cron, you can combine apps and built-in tools to handle complex scheduled tasks.

  • Apps let the workflow connect with external services at the scheduled time.

  • Built-in tools allow data processing, conditional logic, and smart automation on a schedule.

#

Example

You can combine a Cron Trigger with other steps to process data automatically on a schedule.

For example:

Cron → Google Sheets: List All Rows → Multiple Paths (If Conditions)

The Workflow can fetch rows from Google Sheets when the Cron schedule runs and then process only the rows that meet your conditions.
